SDG 9 : Industrialization ,Infrastructure and Innovation

SDGS GOAL 9: Build resilient infrastructure, promote inclusive and sustainable industrialization and foster innovation. Develop quality, reliable, sustainable and resilient infrastructure, including regional and Tran’s border infrastructure, to support economic development and human well-being, with focus on affordable and equitable access for all.
Our SDGs goal 9 resonates with Bs 5th semester’s project “ Numl electric bikes and vehicles
club”. Since social action project involve students directly in identifying, planning and
implementing the actions. Student develop important skills including problem solving, conflict
resolution and empathy.
Numl electric Vehicles club:
Pakistan has been declared as the 7th most vulnerable country, due to the effects of climate
change over 300 people die due to poor air quality in Pakistan every year. The main motive
behind their project is to create awareness in people regarding the importance and benefits of
electric vehicles.
Objectives:
The core objectives of their social action project are:
❖ To highlight and make people aware of hazards of petrol vehicles on the environment
and human health.
❖ To make people aware of the affordable transportation, as cost of electric vehicles is
much lower compared to petrol, diesel, CNG.
❖ To highlight the climate goals and breathing new life into Pakistan’s economy.
❖ To highlight and create an understanding of NEVP (National electric vehicle policy),
their targets and incentives.
❖ To make people aware of the significance of EV’s.
❖ To reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
❖ To highlight the scope of EV industry, their potential in creating employment
opportunities and various green businesses.
Methodology:
Some important activities held by Numl EV club are following:
Their activities include meetings with transportation Director of Numl university on 3rd December
named as Mr. Major Ijaz. Their purpose was to know about their monthly petroleum expenses of
their bikes and cars.
Meeting with Dean of Management sciences Dr. Naveed Akhtar, regarding policy suggestions for
Numl EV policy. Meeting with HOD of English department and so on were conducted.
“Visits to Government Sector”:
They visit ministry of climate change and met with the director general Muhammad Irfan Tariq
and deputy director Khattak Ministry of climate change. They conducted a very fruitful meeting
with them and get important suggestions as well.
Visit to Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) had a meeting with Sir Ali Ijaz and sir Irfan.
Visit to NEECA as well.
Awareness campaign :
Ev Numl club organized awareness walk at Numl University. Their main purpose was to aware
or spread awareness among the student of university. They conducted interviews to check the
knowledge of student about EV’s. The students did not know about it. However, their
awareness campaign helped them to know about the benefits of electric vehicles on
environment.
Webinars:
Electric vehicles group conducted webinar with some authorities, which have important
influence on society. They have explained different types of electric vehicles, ranges and prices
of EV’S. Their webinar was very informative and fruitful. They answered each questions in
detail.
Volunteers Activity:
Numl EV club volunteers post their social media poster to encourage any electric bikes or
bicycles to save environment. They voluntarily rode the E-bikes with the slogan just to spread
awareness.
Conclusion:
It is amazing the impact we could be making if everyone knew about the Sustainable
Development Goals, it would be life changing for youth to accomplish them. so it is our
responsibility to take action and contribute to the SDGs. Let us not leave it up to the government, and work for the world we want to live in.
