[Seminar in APS]

Introduction:

  • SDG SCOUTS: We are SDG Scouts working on sustainable development goals, which are a set of 17 global goals adopted by the United Nations in 2015 and intended to be achieved by 2030. They are designed to bring "peace and prosperity for people and the planet, now and into the future."

  • We (SDG Scouts) went to APS & C Pasban Westridge Rawalpindi for an awareness session to educate, educate, and train youth regarding sustainable development goals, as they are very important, especially for developing countries, to eradicate poverty, protect the environment, and guarantee that everyone lives in peace and prosperity both now and in the future. As a part of our social action project, along with visiting different universities and institutes, we have also visited several schools, one of which is APS. We are trying to work practically on sustainable development goals, and this is the first step we have taken so far which was to make them aware of those people for whom SDGs are still unknown.

  • Sustainable development goals apply to literally every sector of human life, either for the betterment of an unheard segment or to increase industries, sustainable cities, partnerships, or innovations while reducing inequalities and developing a sustainable life below water.

This awareness session was based on several steps, which include:

  • A welcome meeting with the academic coordinator, section head of the primary wing, and section head of the elementary wing.

QUESTION/ANSWER SESSION:

After giving the presentations on these five SDGs, we allowed all the students to openly ask questions about whatever they felt and see about the issues related to these SDGs and we can’t appreciate enough the knowledge and confidence the institute has taught them. Some of the questions are;

  1. How can we as a student promote our skills?

  1. How should we pursue our skills if our parents do not allow us to indulge in social activities?

  1. How can we teach and help unprivileged children?

We gave them the best possible suggestion which would help them surely in the future. Some of the images of these sessions could be seen below;

ACTIVITY:

We did an activity with the students in which we divided them into equal groups, then gave each group a chart and assigned them one SDG. After that, we told them to write their idea or projection about the SDGs and their interest in them. We told them to present their ideas in front of the class so we could guide them accordingly.

A LOOK AT SDG WALL IN APS:

When visiting this outstanding institute, we learned that they have been named an award winner for SDGs by the British Council. Furthermore, out of very few people working efficiently on the SDGs, one of them is the APS&C. They have made an SDG wall in their institute, which can be seen below WhatsApp Image 2022-11-27 at 9.03.00 PM
