NUML ENERGY CONSERVATION CLUB POLICY INPUT DRIVE

The story of pasting of policy posters begin. In this activity, “NUML ENERGY CONSERVATION CLUB” Team made a policy poster under the supervision of “Dr. ATHAR RASHID “in order to devise energy conservation policy for NUML. The purpose of this activity was to get the valuable input of students and teachers in developing an inclusive and comprehensive policy for NUML. This poster was some sort of invitation for suggestions regarding policy making. Firstly we started this work through social media post of this poster.

On next day at 15 December, we made an awareness derive regarding policy initiative which includes pasting of those posters at different departments of university. Also we engaged other students importantly our seniors in this pasting activity. They helped us throughout in this activity through social media feedback and also by becoming the part of this awareness derive. "ENERGY CONSERVATION AND EFFICIENCY EDUCATION CLUB” got appreciation by all the participants who taken part in our Activity.

The story of our ENERGY AUDIT begins In order to make energy policy for NUML and to make it a smart university. Our first practical step was to generate an energy Audit for NUML. We settled a meeting with technical department engineer Moez Azam on December 13, 2021, who cooperate with us in collecting data & approached to the IT department transport office in order to get a certain data.

This was the first numl energy audit that a student has done. No student has collected data before. A brief review of energy audit report consisted of following features: Total fuel consumption Total electricity consumption No of buses No of energy efficient devices (individual no of devices) Solar panels installation No of fans, AC, tube lights, electric cooler etc. No of computers, laptops NUML electricity bills the collection of data for overall energy expenditure from technical branch IT department and other sources in order to move further for setting of alternatives. Approximate number of appliances Air conditioners, refrigerators, water pumps, electric oven, electric heater, desktop computers, and photocopier, are considered as power hungry devices. On the other hand, LED’s, laptops, DC inverters, all in one printer and scanner, day light sensors, solar panels are considered as energy efficient devices. The billing of university constitutes following numbers (3.3 million in October and more or less 4 million in summer). Numbers of SOLAR PANELS installation in NUML: 150 KW solar systems installed at Ibn-e-khuldoon roof top. 57 KW installed at Nazir Library.
