Tourism For Sustainable development
Social Action Project
meeting with Executive Director of Loc Versa M Talah:
When we were on visit to NATIONAL INSTITUTE OF FOLK & TRADITIONAL HERITAGE for our project Tourism for sustainable development with our Group members. We meet with executive director named Talha Ali. Who told a lot of good things about Sustainable Tourism? He told us about Loc versa. He said that it Is culture state institute and we were developing Culture industries and we want contribution in country economy by promoting tourism in local Level and also want to attract Pakistan tourism on international level and also want to develop culture complex in Loc versa. We ask him that government is responding you or not? He told us about the problems that government is funding health, education and defense sectors. So due limited fund government is less focusing on tourism. He told us that tourism is a very big industry in developed countries. He told us that Pakistan have lot of potential in the tourism and Pakistan have diversity of tourism.
The international tourist is not coming Pakistan due to security problem and lack of services. Second major issue is pollution in natural sites of Tourism. The pollution is caused by domestic tourist. It also effect domestic tourism. Another problem about tourism is bad road network and the worse condition of Roads
He said that government should make polices for promoting tourism. They should make polices for clean Environment everywhere and especially at tourist site. They should make sustainable traffic control system.
He said that when we talk about culture of tourism it means four major requirements.
First, the attitude and behavior of those who are supposed to provide guidance and facilities to tourists. Means that tourist’s guides must have good behaviors with tourists and provides good services in best possible manners.
Second, adhesion to hygiene and cleanliness at restaurants, eateries, washrooms and hotels at tourist spots. Unfortunately, with a few exceptions, there is absence of hygiene and clean environment for tourists, which creates a very bad impression for both local and foreign tourists.
Third, availability of affordable accommodation and food is essential for creating a culture of tourism in Pakistan. During summer and winter tourist seasons, there is no check on the part of concerned authorities to prevent hotel owners who take advantage of the situation and charge excessive amount from tourists.
Fourth, there must be a good road network in which the tourists have easy access to tourist’s spots by Road and it will also be an Amazing journey for foreigners. They can explore Pakistan through Roads.
