It
is an obvious matter that to take any initiative one must have the background
knowledge and its need in any particular area. So that’s the initiative will be
influential. We try our best to know the background knowledge of our area of
interest of Social Action Project through review if exiting literature on the
very area and we tried our best to come to know the need of the issue we have raised
through the Social Action Project. For that, we have conducted a SURVEY for
students through a brief questionnaire. It was the very first activity of our
initiative that aimed to evaluate youth’s awareness and willingness to act on
water issues, as our Social Action Project is on Water Wise (save water save a life).
Initially, on 27 November 2021, a survey was conducted by team “WATER WISE” through Google
Form. The Survey Questionnaire included 15 questions addressing the availability of
quantity and quality of Water Resources, Water born diseases, and the attitude of the public towards Water conservation. The total respondents were 50 among them 66% were
female and 34% were male.
Overall responses indicate that individuals are
concerned with water availability, issues, and water-born diseases but few of
them are giving personal efforts to conserve water. Furthermore, a great
percentage of respondents were willing to learn about water issues if they were
provided with the opportunity.
The
core objective of this survey was to reach the public with water-related
information and issues and to change public attitude towards water usage in
growing population moreover it aimed to evaluate youth’s awareness and
willingness to act on water issues. It was very helpful for us to take further
steps in our field because after this survey we were able to know the need of
students and the issue they are facing regarding the precious ingredient “water”. The survey was the only way that pushed us towards the fieldwork by providing
us the results for which we have conducted it.
