NUML DIGITAL SKILLS SOCIETY
"What we do for ourselves dies with us. What we do for others and the world remains and is immortal."
~Albert Pine
The last quarter of year has been really thrilling
for us. With our fourth semester, we are heading towards the half-graduation of
our four years bachelor program BS Public Administration and Governance. Social
Action Project is our two credit hours compulsory course under the supervision
of Dr. Athar Rashid, Assistant Professor G&PP Department, NUML, Islamabad. Social
Action Project is a multi-purpose process undertaken to tackle a societal
issue. Students through their actions contribute to the betterment of society and
enhance their personal and collective efficacy.
After a struggling brainstorm, we finally coalited
at the sparkling trend of the 21st century, Digital Skills and Digital
Literacy. Digital incorporates all the imaginable areas
of our life. The importance of digital skills has never been conspicuous before
the spread of global pandemic, amplifying the need for digital capacity
building and skills development to cope up the fourth industrial revolution (4IR) and the post pandemic
circumstances. Post pandemic, the global job market culture has been remarkably
changed shifting the paradigm from degree to skills. Skills development was the
way forward at the time of crisis. It created self-employment and eradicated
the job dependency empowering new vitalities for growth.
NUML Digital Skills
Society is a Social Action Project with the sole motive of creating an enabling
environment for youth towards the skill-oriented curriculum. It aims at
empowering young people by magnifying their voices and enabling them to
self-organize. The concept of reskilling and upskilling the youth paves a
self-sustainable route with completely valuing the human labor. It highlights
the importance of civic engagement in creative economy. We invest in mastering
digital skills with confidence in easy and enjoyable manner to lead career
prospects. NUML Digital Skills Society is in pursue of building a sustainable
digital ecosystem and procurement of digital skills focusing SDG-4 and SDG-8.
We hope that our
small step will stimulate the youth to develop best strategies to acquire
benefit from this digital transformation. This initiative will serve as a steppingstone
in our professional careers.
“If a man would move the world, he must first move himself”.
